Main truth

Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again. He is alive and welcomes us to trust him and follow him.

Parent steps

  1. Explain that this is a serious and joyful part of the Bible's true story.
  2. Read selected age-appropriate parts of Luke 23:32-49 without adding graphic detail.
  3. Say clearly that Jesus had done no wrong and willingly gave his life for our sins according to God's saving plan.
  4. Read Luke 24:1-12 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.
  5. Offer a private response: listen, thank Jesus that he is alive, or draw a question for a parent.

Activity choices

Little Lights

Sequence three pictures: cross, tomb, empty tomb and morning light. Keep the images simple and symbolic.

Bible Explorers

Arrange four gospel statements from 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: Christ died for our sins, was buried, was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures.

Family-length option

Read Luke 24:1-12 at home and ask, 'What good news did the women hear?'

Concrete questions

  • Was the tomb full or empty?
  • Which four gospel facts does Paul summarise?
  • What question would you like to ask about Jesus?

Gentle prayer response

Thank you, Jesus, that you died for our sins and rose again. Help us hear this good news with trust and hope.

Safety note

Do not pressure a public decision, count conversions, imply a repeated prayer saves by its wording, depict God the Father as a visible person, or treat questions as unwelcome.
