Main truth

God made everything. God was not made, and everything belongs to him. Every person has dignity as part of God's creation.

Parent steps

  1. Open Genesis 1 before simplifying the story. Read selected verses aloud and let children listen, point or pass.
  2. Use six large safe objects or pictures: water, leaf, large stone, animal, sun or star, and a protected mirror.
  3. Ask whether each item is the Creator or part of creation. Put only God under Creator.
  4. When the mirror appears, say that people are made in God's image and can know, love, create and care, but are not God.
  5. End by thanking God for three created things and choosing one gentle care action.

Activity choices

Little Lights, ages 3-5

Place the pictures around a paper circle. Children point, name, move like an animal or add one large crayon mark while repeating, 'God made everything.'

Bible Explorers, ages 6-8

Sort cards marked God, people, angels, animals, trees, stars, toys and music into Creator, created things, and things people make from God's world.

Family-length option

Take a short walk, name three created things and thank God for each one. This is a shortened home adaptation, not the full club session.

Concrete questions

  • Who made the world?
  • What is special about people in Genesis 1:26-27?
  • How should belonging to the Creator change how we treat people and the world?

Gentle prayer response

Creator God, thank you for making us and the world. Help us care for people and creation.

Safety note

Use only large, safe objects. Do not imply that human beings are God, that God has a body like ours, or that creation should be worshipped.
