Read the Bible passage together, then choose an activity that suits your child. This short home guide is not a full Bible Club session.

Main truth

The Lord knows, leads and cares for his people; Jesus is the good Shepherd who gives himself for them.

Parent steps

  1. Read Psalm 23 slowly. Let children point when they hear a place or action.
  2. Read John 10:11-15 and connect David's shepherd picture with Jesus' own words.
  3. Name the shepherd actions: knows, leads, provides, protects and stays near.
  4. Notice that Psalm 23 includes a dark valley. God's care does not mean hard things never happen.
  5. Invite a child to choose lead me, stay near, thank you or blank as a prayer response.

Activity choices

Little Lights

Move a sheep picture along pasture, water, valley and safe-home cards. Children may move the sheep, hold a card, point or watch.

Bible Explorers

Make a Psalm 23 evidence map with headings: The Shepherd provides, The Shepherd guides, The Shepherd stays. Add John 10:11.

Family-length option

Read Psalm 23 at bedtime and let the child draw one picture from the psalm.

Concrete questions

  • Does a good shepherd forget the sheep?
  • Which words in Psalm 23 describe provision, guidance and presence?
  • What makes Jesus the good Shepherd in John 10?

Gentle prayer response

Good Shepherd, lead us and stay near. Thank you that you know and care for your people.

Safety note

Do not promise Christians never experience fear, pain or loss. Do not ask a child to disclose a personal dark valley.
