Read John 6:1-14 together. This short retelling supports Scripture; it does not replace it.
A great crowd followed Jesus to a grassy hillside. They had listened for a long time, and soon everyone was hungry.
One child had brought a small lunch: five little loaves and two fish. It did not look like enough for so many people, but he offered what he had.
Jesus received the food, gave thanks and shared it. Everyone ate until they were satisfied, and there was food left over.
