The lamp of God was still burning, and the house was quiet. Samuel lay down nearby, ready to rest.
Then he heard his name. He ran to Eli, but Eli had not called him. When it happened again, Eli understood and helped Samuel know how to respond.
Samuel listened and said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” God was with Samuel as he grew.
